The closest I'll get to granting that a 9/11 conspiracy might be true is a "Pearl Harbor" scenario where vital intelligence was intentionally mishandled with the belief that an attack couldn't be that bad. I don't believe the Pearl Harbor theory either. The US knew that both an invasion of the Philippines by Japan and open u-boat attacks on American shipping were imminent. Japanese diplomats were kept out of the loop. Meanwhile, Yamamoto not only sailed under radio silence, he put his regular radio operators in shore stations, where they transmitted fake routine traffic. (At that time, a good ear could identify individual radio operators by the "accent" of their morse code.)

Granted, Roosevelt could be a Machiavellian SOB, but he didn't need a Pearl Harbor, and he wasn't a post-Reagan Republican foreign policy wonk either. That gang of sociopaths strike me as being morally capable of pulling that kind of stunt off, but I don't know that they had the opportunity.

Speculation that anything that happened on 9/11 was planned by or involved American agents doing something other than misfiling an email strikes me as beyond ridiculous. Too complicated, too many variables, damage and casualties far in excess of what Bush needed to push a police action through congress.
