It's symphonic power metal, if I remember right?
Roy Khan had professional opera singing training, and it shows. c:
It continues a story that starts in the album Epica (also pretty good!) following a man's quest for knowledge. Both albums go for the hard-hitting philosophical questions in the lyrics.
I had other things in mind at the time, but I would totally have posted Soul Society's lyrics in that favorite lyrics thread days ago:
