It makes me sad to see Plutarch looking tired and worn-out, because it feels to me like whatever was happening in Hoffman's life must have been affecting him here, too, to make his acting so realistic. :-(

I think because he had fallen back into his addictions, he probably was very exhausted during filming. He was already older, and it couldn't have been easy on his body.

Yeah, I just finally saw the movie, and I thought he was extremely bland and forgettable. Kind of sad if that was the reason behind it...

It amazes me how often people refuse to credit an actor's acting and instead insist on something having been ~real~ (like that Will Smith gifset that's been going around tumblr forever).

Except... this specific scene was shot right before he died, so... It's a pretty good comparison.

If someone kills themselves directly afterwards it's hard not to make that human connection when you're watching someone.
