(Anonymous) 2015-03-18 02:02 am (UTC)(link)Having studied in several regions (and several countries) of the UK, I haven't encountered it. Also a published writer on both sides of the pond and haven't seen that structure there either.
There might be some kind of dialect thing going on with the way that phrase might sound, but when it comes to writing it down that's still incorrect grammar whichever way you look at it.
Either they've had a crappy education (which is very possible all across the UK) or they're making excuses for poor grammar skills.
