I agree with you.

Small Gods is still my favorite.

SMALL GODS! Such a good, underrated book. I love all the Disc books that people use as examples of 'weak' books in the series (excluding the later books ofc) tbh. Pyramids is actually another favourite of mine.

People cite Small Gods as 'weak'? Weird. I think it's actually the one I've most often seen listed as a favourite. I've never seen much criticism of Pyramids either, for that matter; I thought it was mostly the first couple of Rincewind ones that people generally aren't so keen on.

Oh really? I've had the opposite experience. But iirc it was in one of the official books where something like 'For as many people as there are who argue about which Watch book is best, there's the occasional oddball standing up for Pyramids' was said, or something along those lines.

I know 'the earlier Rincewind books are meh in comparison to the rest of the series' is a popular opinion, but apparently, 'The Colour of Magic and The Light Fantastic are the weakest books in the series' is not an objective opinion haha. More power to people who like them, of course, but I find that line of thinking almost impossible to fathom!
