Why do people bother taking part in LJ fandom memes when they admit they basically never post?

I've seen this a few times now and don't get it.

Maybe they see it as more of a meme meme? And not as necessarily a way to make friends?

Or they actually use the friend page and keep up with their friends who are active in their journals? I haven't posted in a lot of friend memes because not only do I not post, I'm not checking up on others' lately either.

AYRT - I think you may have misunderstood the question (or I misunderstood your answer) - I'm talking about people who WILL fill out a friending meme, but then say something like "I actually never use LJ or anything anymore." What's the point?

AYRT - Exactly. I mean, I understand if they're saying they don't post much but are trying to get back into it, but if they flat-out never post or comment...

They probably want to get back into posting and commenting and figure making new friends will help give them motivation?

That's what I assume anyway, because I've done that before here on DW (and then failed. Sorry, guys; ILU).

Hmmm, maybe they're super busy right now and don't have a lot of free time, but want new friends so they can have something to come back to later? I don't know!
