The corner of bandom that I was in was like 80% AUs where they were basically OCs with familiar faces. There were some good stories, but having seen other RPF fandoms, I definitely understand why people tend to hate on RPF.

I remember one time, someone took a picture of a band member's mailbox and a good chunk of the fandom sort of shunned them for a while for being too creepy. I'm sure there are chunks of bandom that are tinhatty and shitty, but the part I was in was very against that shit and very adamant that we were only interested in stage personas and what the band members voluntarily put out there.

I wouldn't go back to it, but I don't really feel guilty for being in that fandom. It was chill and I had a good time.
