Re: Writing a Good OC (and/or recs?)
One approach is to ask how you want the group to change, for better or worse. "Worse" may be more effective, since it creates an inherent conflict, but "better" is also workable. Another is to ask what the group can do with the new member that it couldn't do with the old. And as a safety measure, a final question: why do the old characters not abandon the new character in the middle of the desert and be done with it? ("Great sex" is probably not a good answer.")
