Do you live with your parents? Or financia dependant on them?

Inspired by above.

(Anonymous) 2015-03-21 10:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes but not dependent on them. I could move out whenever but we're on good terms and it would have to be somewhere nearby anyways due to where I work so it makes no sense to throw $1200+/month away. Yes rent is that bad here even with roommates lol

Re: Do you live with your parents? Or financia dependant on them?

(Anonymous) 2015-03-21 10:27 pm (UTC)(link)
No. If things got bad I would move in with them but I mean, things would have to be BAD.

They are not the worst ever but I am not super close with my family and my parents get on my nerves very easily. I think the most I'd want to do is have an apartment right next to their house or something. I need alone time.

No, which I'm happy about.

...yes.
That's on account on being aimless for a few years as well as financial instability.

I live with my mom. I am financially dependent enough that I could live by myself. But I don't date (or have an interest in dating). This cuts out bills in half and I highly doubt I could find such a great house anywhere near by.

Nope! Changing that situation was a point of pride as well.

I'm not financially dependent on my mom although I did live with her until I was 25. My own health problems and then her ordeal with breast cancer kind of lead us to take care of each other until the point where we were both well enough to be well and truly sick of living with each other, haha.

Re: Do you live with your parents? Or financia dependant on them?

(Anonymous) 2015-03-21 10:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, because their health issues mean they need someone around 24/7 and there's no feasible alternative.

I don't live with them anymore, though I did until I started law school. I do still get $75 a month from them which goes to medical stuff usually. That will end once I finish school.

I, my sister and her husband and two kids, my mom, and grandma all live together.

Re: Do you live with your parents? Or financia dependant on them?

(Anonymous) 2015-03-21 10:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes.
I think I have the resources to move out but it wouldn't be anywhere as nice or safe as where I live now. I help out with my mom's business that's run out of the house, so I'd still commute here a lot anyway if I moved out. I'm also becoming paranoid about living on my own (for thieves and safety issues) or living with strangers.

I don't have too many issues with living with my parents so it doesn't bother me much. And it doesn't seem to bother my parents either.

Yes and No.

Yes, but I'd prefer not to be. I'm currently trying to save as hard as I can, but my job doesn't pay enormously well even though I'm management so it's gonna be tough if I do make it out of here on my own.

No, I don't live with my parents.

Kind of in terms of financial dependence.

They pay for my car, car insurance, and cell phone. And they also give me substantial monetary gifts which I use to buy groceries. I don't NEED them to do this for me though as I do make enough money to pay for my car's lease, the insurance and cell phone/groceries. So I usually end up setting aside a significant portion of my pay every month.

I do live with them. Financially it's a little more complicated as I have a good job, and I could pay rent, and have offered to, but they think rent-related tax stuff would be more trouble than it's worth. I guess.

financially, yes because I can't afford rent atm unless I am with roommates. Done that before and I hated it, though perhaps not as much as going home to finish school and realizing that I wasn't going to finish after all.

But anyways, yeah. I give back where I can, and try not to let it get to me while I work on getting back out. Hanging out with my little sister is an awesome boon.

No, but that's mostly due to lack of room. My sister and I share a place.

*shudders*

Nope and nope. There was a brief stint where I had to be dependent on them again and I hated it. I much rather have no money and my own place than have money but living with the folks.

AHAHAHAHAHA. Aheh. Heh ha.

No. Not at all. And for this, I am deeply, utterly thankful, even though it cost us a job, a year of unstable housing, and total cold shoulder from all our massive extended family except our younger brother and grandmother.

I live with my Mom, but I'm not dependent on her for finances. She's unemployed and has a house to pay, I need a place to live while I pay off my car and get my life back on track. I help her with the bills and pay for my own things (food, insurance, car note).

Re: Do you live with your parents? Or financia dependant on them?

Yes, and mostly no. Considering the housing market is so tough and expensive right now, I can't move out and be able to live on my own with the salary I make. If I found a decent place for a decent price, I would be able to live on my own, but the market is ridiculously expensive and tough right now. I wouldn't want to fall into debt and ultimately have to move back in with my parents. I come from a culture where the kids shouldn't be expected to move out until they get married, but considering we live in the US my parents have grown to the idea that you don't have to be married to move out of your parents' house. I live with my parents, and though I don't pay for the mortgage, I pay for a fair number of other bills. I also tend to be the one who takes care of the upkeep of the house.

I live with my Mum. I view it as a equal-sharing situation where we both pay about half the household expenses, plus issues of getting used to a new housemate happened way back when I was a baby.

I often suspect I fit into some of the less flattering categories of people who live with their parents - I didn't do really well in school and attempts at further education failed. The one time I was employed ended up with me burning out and going onto disability pension.

But now she is starting to show some of the issues of aging I also feel that my being here helps her cope better as well.
