Try shaping your plot so it uses the character rather than your way. Fanfic is about using the canon characters in unique ways.

I'm fairly certain you're jaybie's OC-hating troll, but come on, no. That's not what fanfiction is about at all. Fanfic can utilize canon characters in different ways, but it's not strictly defined as canon characters only and never has been.
