I'm a little confused by this. Like do you mean that if you have, for example, five guest kudos on one fic then you assume all of those kudos came from one person? Because even guests can't leave kudos more than once on a fic (unless they're, idk, using a different ip address every time or something) so they couldn't have left multiple kudos on one fic. Or did you just mean that all of your fics tend to get one guest kudo each at the same time?

I'm confused too, though I admit I'm not overtly knowledgeable about how kudos work. I have an A03 account but rarely log in so when I leave kudos it's usually anonymously, but I know you can't leave more than one kudos on the same fic.

I guess you might be right and OP might be getting one kudo on each of their fics, which they assume is all the same person. I don't see what the big deal is, though... If someone likes your writing and reads all your stuff and wants to give kudos on each fic then they obviously appreciate OP's work.

Maybe it could be a friend, but even if the person leaving the kudos is a friend that doesn't necessarily mean their appreciation isn't sincere.

If I like a fic, I'll usually go check out the author's other stuff and read anything that looks appealing (not always right away - depends on if I have time). It's certainly possible I might read and leave kudos on multipe stories by the same author within one day without knowing that author.

I've done it before too and assumed it was a fairly common thing. Maybe it would be better to spread the kudos out, but I've never thought about it before. Kudos are kudos to me.

It can't be that hard? There's this one fic in one of my smaller fandoms (badly written, OOC, etc) that had more kudos than it had hits before the author turned off/hid the hit counter because it was getting so ridiculously obvious what an attention whore they were.

Then they were doing the extra work, using extra IP addresses, data hot spots, etc - going out of her way to heavily inflate her fic over a period of time. But a friend probably wouldn't do that for another because they think them pathetic.

or kudos-leavers use some detection blocking apps so they don't show up in statistics.

(Anonymous) 2015-03-23 12:26 pm (UTC)(link)
All of them in masses on a single fic though, when the fandom average of kudos/hits is more like 1/12?

This fic attracts ninjas.)

Exactly. A lot of Firefox users have NoScript enabled, which means the statistics don't count pageviews from those readers.

How I wish Firefox would work for me again and not crash randomly so I could have NoScript again. It was wonderful. Blocked all the ads and cookies.

You can block most ads on IE too. Go to Safety - Defense against surveillance (something like that) - Get a list online - add some lists. It helps somewhat.

I've Win RT and it only allows IE. No session restore there. =/

I do know that theoretically you can have more comments than hits on a multi-chapter fic; accessig the fic it;sef is a singel hit, but you could leave 10 comments. (I do think that kudos are more like hits though; one per customer per story.)
