I agree. I rarely see people be middle ground, it's either love or hate and both sides get ridiculous. Either people try to completely deny or sweep under the rug how much of a monster someone is or on the other side they find ONE thing someone said in an interview 17 years ago and decide they hate the actor forever.

As long as an entertainer seems to be somewhat normal and not a verified monster (and there are a few of those in hollywood) I try not to care about what they are like outside of their work. I also think it's troubling how much people hate female actresses for being only slightly annoying where men can get away with some really horrifying shit.

True, it's sadly not a hard attitude to find though. It might be a vocal minority but I see it around a lot.

This. ONTD is the worst about this. An actor can say something that is ever-so-slightly not 100% enlightened and YEARS later the posters will still be citing that as the reason they hate him/her. But then they complain when actors only say bland, diplomatic stuff, saying they have no personality.

It's like judging dresses at the Oscars. If an actress wears something simple, she's boring. If she wears something unusual, she's a hot mess....unless she happens to hit that infinitesimally small sweet spot of just slightly unusual enough to be edgy and cool, in which case she's a goddess.

Just...FFS, people, LEARN HOW TO BE MODERATE.

ONTD is really terrible with the love them/hate them attitudes. I've definitely seen the "let's find something some actor said 17 years ago" thing happen on ONTD.

There's also a bad double standard there since the userbase is compromised of a lot of straight women and gay men, there will always be excusing of male actors and jumping on any reason to hate a female actress. Usually they will love an actress and put her on a pedestal so high that NO ONE can live up to their standards so in like 5 seconds the actress is hated.

The only thing ONTD is good about is calling out the truly horrific actors/entertainers that often get praise (or have their past ignored) in mainstream media. But ONTD has no idea how to deal with people who seem normal.

And then there are the 1D posts. Those are so weird to me, since all of them have done stuff that would usually lead to them being HATED forever but somehow their stans are STILL calling them flawless + want solo careers for their favs. It's so strange. (I bet in four weeks Zayn will be back to God status)

I generally stay out of 1D posts (I have no interest in it) but the rules of ONTD is as long as people still have a crush on whatever celeb is in question, they will easily forget any bad things they've done.

I don't get it but I'm a little old for 1D and my music taste does not match ONTD's in the slightest. I mostly go in the movie/tv posts.

ONTD is also really terrible about giving "passes" to women they stan for, like Rhianna.
