Text: I went through a phase of denying I liked music at all just to hide my potentially embarrassing tastes. I even said this to a friend who liked the same stuff.

To someone else, I claimed only to like boring instrumental stuff.

To this day, I wonder if that friend (who I lost touch with, and I think has moved on from it) remembers. We could have had fun talking about it.
