Yup, that's what I figured. My comics orders come in chunks too, and I KNOW they aren't being ordered by the same people! (For a while, I was getting a BUNCH of orders for the same things, all in England. It was kind of odd until I remembered that some multi mag in the UK asked permission to print images of my comics in their newsletter. Apparently that was a good idea; I presume my business came from them!)

Things go in clusters because of how things spread by word of mouth. I'd figure that'd become even more pronounced in stuff like Ao3 fic, where spending money isn't necessary.
