Meh. I used to read everything Gaiman wrote, but revisiting his stuff lately (particularly American Gods), I am super disappointed to find I've...grown out of it? IDEK if that's what it is. It just doesn't...grab me, suck me in, the way it used to.

Tbf, I have also been reading Pynchon lately, and think it's doing something to my brain....

His work has become kind of repetitive. I still like his older stuff just as well, but The Ocean at the End of the Lane was nothing new at all. Maybe his most recent short story collection is more fresh, but I haven't read it yet.

Mind you, I don't think this has anything to do with Amanda.

He is a very, very outgrowable author.

I did too. I did always prefer his comics work to his novels, and I do still really appreciate Sandman, but rereading his other fiction, I'm very unimpressed.

Same here. In the end I think my Gaiman love basically goes to Sandman and that's it. I've reread that a whole bunch of times, own basically all of it, and still love it. Everything else of his has paled on rereads for me, or as I've gotten older.

Looking at Sandman, yeah. Morpheus is such a stu and Death is his manic pixy fangirl sister.

Used to love the stuff, now it's annoying.

Morpheus is way too flawed to be a Stu.

I don't think "self-loathing and suicidal because he realizes he's terrible at everything" is a traditional Sue/Stu characteristic?

As others have said, I think he's an easily out-growable author. He's too repetitive in his use of reworking ancient myths. It gets old very fast.
