If it was me personally - if I was in the situation of the person who wanted to try the thing, I would much rather just not do it than go with someone else (I am very, very not into the idea of open relationships, just in any way). But I also can't really imagine being so interested in trying something that you'd press to the point where your partner is clearly uncomfortable with it. If I was in the situation of the other partner... well, tbh, I'd probably just try the damn thing, after making it clear how I felt about it.

But then again I am a virgin so *cutesy anime shrug*

I'm not even a little bit of a virgin and this would be my reaction, too, tbh. I can't think of any sexual act specifically that would be so very necessary that it'd be worth more than asking the person to consider trying it.
