I didn't see any of that. I don't think she was forgiven for what happened and I didn't see her prejudices getting in the way except for the last 2 episodes which were so OOC to everything we'd seen before.

She did bond with the others. She and Morgan even vacationed together.

I mean, I can totally understand not liking her. The acting isn't very good, and personal taste and all that. She's not my favorite either but she's not bad.

I definitely don't see parallels between her and Eliot. I haven't watched SUV in years but my main recollection of him was police brutality, etc. She sometimes let her disgust with people show but she did a good job. They seem like two different kinds of characters to me.

I agree - she wasn't forgiven for shooting a suspect. Hotch tried to make her go to counselling because he knew it hadn't been self-defence and she quit rather than go. I love Prentiss, but that doesn't mean I didn't like Elle.

I don't think she's quite as bad as Stabler (who to be fair, had a much longer run on L&O than she did on CM) but I never warmed to her, either. Characters like that whose inner rage or issues (no matter how justified) that threaten their professional demeanor don't appeal to me, not sure why.

I really only liked Elle at all once she got shot. After that, it was PTSD, instead of her being unprofessional. She's still one of my least favorite characters, though.

I think part of why she gets defended more is that she was only around for a season and a half. Stabler was around for, what, a decade?

Tbf, I like Elliot Stabler too, though I can definitely see where people have problems with him. However, I don't think Elle's the same at all? Other than the time she murdered a serial rapist and pretended it was self-defence (which cost her her career, btw, it wasn't like she got off zero consequences), I don't remember her being much for the police brutality? Rossi, Morgan, even JJ all outstrip her in that sense.

Has she ever turned green, burst out of her shirt, and torn a giant furrow through Manhattan because someone stopped her beating the crap out of an innocent person? No, then she is no comparison to Elliot "ragemonkey" Stabler.

Ooh, that's interesting. I actually liked her and I hope she's healing but that's a really interesting idea, anon. After what they did to Gideon this year, I think it's entirely possible they could bring her back somehow (with or without the actress).

Text: I’ve done way too much thinking about why I never liked her. She’s a smart, albeit abrasive character that should be interesting, but it bothered her that she never bonded with the rest of the team and she was so unprofessional and let her prejudices and emotions get in the way of her job. Yet we’re supposed to forgive her because she has issues or whatever.

I realize now that I dislike them both for similar reasons but more people defend Elle than Elliot and that doesn’t seem right.

I have never understood Elle hate, at least not to the extent that she gets. I can understand why people don't like her, but unless you count after she got shot in which she was suffering from PTSD I never saw the issues with her character that the OP mentions. She also bonds quite well with Reid and Morgan, so I don't understand where that's coming from either. Maybe I'm biased, she's one of my favourite CM characters.
