Oh, please don't let it. The games are awesome, even if the fandom is whacked. They have some of the best characterization I've seen in games, and they play like an interactive fantasy novel (which, if that's not your thing, that's another matter entirely). I pretty much ignore the fandom except for the dragon_age community on LJ, which is quieter, and fic really isn't a thing (although DA fic is usually, I've found, about people's personal characters), but people are squeeful and enthusiastic and nice.

The Dragon Age reddit is great, btw. I don't comment and haven't been around much lately, but the people there are nice, rational and cool. It seems low drama in a way the tumblr fandom isn't. (Not that I haven't seen plenty of great DA posts on tumblr, but apparently if you dig too deep things get ugly. I don't do that.)

BSN is kind of crazy (some decent discussion, lots of complaining, idiots, sane people, you have everything) but I still go there because it's the easiest way for me to check and see how the recent patches are working for people. (And if I should download them.)

And +1 as to what nonny said about the games being good.

Good to know! I don't usually peruse Reddit because... well, Reddit. But if the DA community there is good, I may poke around. :)

I can't say I blame you, but this subreddit in particular is quite welcoming and friendly. It's one of the better ones I've come across.

I would also suggest DA Confessions on Tumblr. You get all sorts of differing opinions coming up in submissions, but the mods keep a nice strict hold on not letting blatant abusiveness get through.
