Agreed.

(So, what do you get when you put a canuck, an australian, a southern belle and an inordinate amount of yankees in the same story?)

There is one X-Men writer I like, her stories were amusing...

BUT... She's Australian. And instead of using SouthMouth for Rogue or American Idioms for the Yanks, it was Australian slang. And as an American I was going "err, Rogue, Jubilee & Kitty wouldn't talk like that. Rogue especially, now, John would talk like that, but he's Australian."

On the up side, I learned some Australian slang?

I mean, it is hard enough keeping track of all the different slang when writing the X-Men as it is! Not that most writers bother. Marvel doesn't bother. Hell, I'm writing several Narnia stories with an American character added to the bunch and keeping track of biscuits, lorries, petrol and motoring is difficult! (But more entertaining by the fact that the American girl refuses to learn British slang despite having been a British citizen for almost a decade.)
