Re: Empire?
Haha she is! And I think she was everybody's favorite part of the show from what I've seen on various sites.
I'm not sure why he gave it to him! I think they were trying to go for "finding out he's not dying made Lucious want to be a nicer person and (attempt to) make up for the shitty things he's done" but...I don't know that I buy that. I don't trust him, either, and giving it to Jamal to control him makes a lot of sense, I think. I didn't like how quick everyone was to turn against him once he was in control...I wish it'd been everyone else vs. Lucious, not everyone else vs. Lucious and Jamal, but I guess they've gotta have drama for next season! Should be interesting, at least.
I get why he left, with the whole Jamal not mentioning him in the interview thing, and then he ended up coming out so soon after that...that had to suck. At least if I was in Michael's position I'd feel crappy, like he couldn't do it for me, but then as soon as I'm gone he does? I think the new guy (I think his name is Ryan maybe?) is cute and I actually like his accent, but yeah...something about him throws me off. I'm not sure if it's intentional and he's going to turn out to be evil or something, but I thought it happened too quick too.
Me too. He was definitely a spoiled brat a good amount of the time, but I did like him outside of that, and thought it was sweet how supportive he was of Jamal. The thing with the girlfriend amused me too!
He was probably my least favorite, but I also thought he was more interesting than he seemed at first. The Jennifer Hudson thing kind of surprised me...the whole 'finding Jesus' thing was not at all where I thought it would go! I think the whole murder cover up probably has Rhonda and Andre (I'm not normally into the whole smushed name thing at all, but I just want to call them Rhondre lol) back on the same page, though, especially now that she's pregnant.
Jamal's version of "You're So Beautiful" was definitely mine, too, for the same reasons...really catchy and pissing off Lucious is always good lol. I liked "No Apologies" too, and...I can't remember the names of some of the others. I liked pretty much all of Jamal's songs, though, he has a great voice! Some of Hakeem's were ok, but they weren't really my thing for the most part. "Drip drop" was just...yeah, "why?" is a good question lol
Re: Empire?
Everyone turning against Jamal pissed me off (And confused me), but I felt like Cookie didn't want just one son running things, she wanted Hakeem and Jamal to be equal. The others... I got the feeling they felt that Lucious was going to control Jamal (Maybe even without Jamal realizing it) or influence Jamal in such a way that he would become either unrecognizable, or trash the company. Idk. I hope Jamal finds out the whole truth pretty quickly next season and they work together, because I need more happy family moments; Lucious is an ass and shouldn't get to tear his family apart.
And I don't blame Michael for leaving either because what Jamal did was pretty shitty, but I was actually upset with Jamal for not trying to reconcile with him after that whole mess. Especially after he came out... He could've given him a call, told the other guy he was hoping to see someone else, whatever. I don't know how much time passes between these episodes, but it just felt like Jamal immediately moved on, and given that I liked Michael maybe the new guy is getting punished for it, lol.
Oh, when Jennifer Hudson got on her knees I thought they were going to have sex. When she started praying I was like, okaaay, but at least glad he wasn't going to cheat on his wife while in therapy. I feel weird for wanting them to work out despite the fact they killed someone? Lmao.

Yeah, at times it seemed sort of unclear whether they were actually against Jamal, or mainly against Lucious and Jamal just kind of happened to be a part of it. I hope they get it worked out and everyone works together, too...Lucious shouldn't have that much power.
It's hard to know how much time passes, but it definitely seemed super fast. It was like they'd just met and then suddenly they're a thing? Kinda weird. I agree Jamal should've at least tried to reconcile...I wonder if we'll see Michael again.

Haha, I get that! I like them, too, even though they're pretty twisted...just makes it more interesting lol
Re: Empire?
Not that I think he's gay, I'd find bi easier to believe, but, you know... I thought that episode was extremely shippy! He opened up to Danny, Danny bought him a damn guitar and Steve looked at him like he was the sun and the moon and the stars, lol. It was cute.
And I hadn't heard this might be the finale season. Are the ratings not doing well? That worries me... I want to keep Steve and Danny on my TV for at least a few more years.
I have a feeling there's a lot more going on in Empire than we see... Especially in the last two episodes. The pacing of those felt off and it was a bit difficult for me to follow everything. Maybe the whole Michael breakup happened a month (Or months) before Jamal got with the new guy. The show just didn't do well with explaining the passage of time.
Re: Empire?
I did think it was interesting that Steve was the one to immediately say they weren't gay (and Danny said he would've gone with that to keep their cover) when last time (with the sorority girls) he didn't seem to really care much that people thought they were a couple, just that they thought he was old lol.
And idk, I've always thought gay because he's just never seemed into women to me. Danny clearly is, but it doesn't come across like Steve is, at least to me. I know we've talked about it before, but I still don't buy that he was all that into Catherine, just that she was there and it was convenient. The only people I've ever thought he seemed to genuinely have feelings for are/were Danny and Freddie (he's the one I meant the last time we talked about it but I couldn't remember his name). I think if he's bi he at least likes guys more than girls...but it's always possible that I'm just completely delusional lol.
I thought it was kind of weird because they had the conversation about how Danny was the one that grew up in a family that always talked about their emotions and Steve's didn't, and so Steve doesn't like sharing his feelings, which I think makes total sense, but the episode with the bombing where they were trapped in that building, it made it seem the other way around (where Steve was telling Danny how he never opens up to people and he needed to with Amber). I thought the episode was adorable, though...it was actually much more shippy than I exepcted it to be. And Danny getting him the guitar was cute, and Steve letting him drive (although that whole last scene just reminded me of Supernatural).
Unfortunately the ratings are pretty bad and they're saying it could go either way as to whether or not it comes back next season. :(
With Empire, I thought the last two episodes seemed off, too. I can't even put my finger on exactly what it was, but something was obviously different. Probably just that there was so much going on. I think because the writers weren't sure when they were writing it if it they'd get a second season, they tried to cram as much stuff in as they could, and weren't able to explain some things as well as they maybe should have. Hopefully next season things will slow down a bit and make a little more sense.
Re: Empire?
And I got the impression that he didn't want to lie too much to the lady, not that he was ashamed of being seen as Danny's partner. Though I am glad that Danny seemed so cool with it, and it would've been infinitely more amusing to see them run with the couple thing. (Right out of a fanfic, that plotline.)
I don't think you're delusional and as you know by now I don't think Steve has that much chemistry with Catherine, or is even that interested in her beyond what she can do for him. When his mom came back in the picture and started digging into his personal life maybe he felt like a failure, that he should've 'done more' and that caused him to try a more serious relationship with Cath, which didn't work out so well. I'm not even sure that I think he's interested in women particuarly, so much as he enjoys sex and probably doesn't much care where it comes from, you know? But I've never been conviced that Steve has had romantic feelings for a woman.
That was a bit funny, yea, but the way I see it the two go back and forth with it; Danny does talk a lot to Steve about his feelings, but a lot of the time those talks are mostly complaints or blowing off steam. I'm sure they talk about deeper stuff (we see him talk about Grace, and his ex in the first few seasons), but not as much about the deeper, darker parts of him (his anxiety def counts, I think). And Steve likes to encourage Danny to let whatever he needs out, partially because he enjoy riling him up (partially because he knows Danny would go insane otherwise; he needs the release), but other times he'll bitch about how open Danny is. It's their thing!
This is the first I've heard of it...and that makes me sad. I'll keep my fingers crossed that we get at least one more season for the cast and crew to wrap things up. I'd miss having them on my tv SO much. :(
I think you're right about Empire and that the showrunners just tried to cram too much into the last two episodes, throwing the pacing off and making everything seem disjointed. Maybe it would fair better with a directors commentary to explain what the hell was going on, lol.
Re: Empire?
On the other hand, I don't think that's actually the intent, or that it'll turn out at the end that he was gay all along or anything like that. I do think it's fun to speculate, though, and since, like I said in the other comment, outside of Catherine, we don't know anything about his past relationships, it's kind of easy to interpret things in multiple different ways.
I don't think Steve is uninterested in women, but I don't think he's super interested (most the time) either. I do think he likes sex, probably as much because it's a good 'stress relief' as any other reason, and he appreciates a good body but isn't the kind of guy that is perpetually horny. lol. So I bet he did enjoy the view, but after the initial, "Oh, she's hot," he didn't think much of it. He seemed to be more concerned about eating and reading up on Danny's therapy book than the women and their sexcapades.
I guess to me it's just like, he didn't seem really into Catherine, and we haven't seen him be interested in any other women (unless I'm just totally forgetting about it), so I'm not saying he's definitely NOT into women, just that we haven't seen for sure that he IS.
Probably. Hopefully he wouldn't be ashamed of Danny lol. That definitely would've been amusing, though!
With Catherine, it seemed to me like he liked the idea of her, what she represented, more than he actually liked her. He wasn't too upset when she left, and he hasn't dated (or slept with, that we know of) anyone since she left, and hasn't really seemed interested. So I don't know.
At this point it kind of almost feels like he's fine being single, as long as Danny's in his life, and if Danny has a girlfriend, that's ok, as long as he's happy. So maybe 'not interested in romance' does make the most sense. He's got his job, and his friends, and that's fine with him, although I think if Danny were to be interested in a relationship with him, he'd jump at the chance.
I'm not even sure that I think he's interested in women particuarly, so much as he enjoys sex and probably doesn't much care where it comes from, you know? But I've never been conviced that Steve has had romantic feelings for a woman.
So you think he is into women or he isn't? Or he's just interested in sex but not relationships? I guess that's possible, but I feel like he's definitely into guys. Maybe he does like guys (maybe even mostly) but he'd still have sex with a hot woman? The other day I was looking at recent posts I missed to see if there were any interesting discussions, and there was a thread awhile back with people wondering if it was even possible to be interested in different genders for sex/relationships...I guess that all falls under bisexual. Or maybe I'm just totally misunderstanding what you mean.
(I feel like at times we're talking about two different things, sex and relationships, which makes things confusing.)
Anyway, I'm honestly not sure what I'm even trying to say with all this. I think my point is that I don't think he is gay for sure, just that it's possible, and his apparent interest in women doesn't necessarily contradict that, because gay dudes in denial can pretend to be into women when they're really not. (Maybe I'm putting too much of my own experience into this because he reminds me a lot of a guy I know where that definitely was the case.) But like I said in the other comment, I wouldn't really be surprised by anything. (Except totally straight, because I think he definitely likes guys on some level.)
That was a bit funny, yea, but the way I see it the two go back and forth with it; Danny does talk a lot to Steve about his feelings, but a lot of the time those talks are mostly complaints or blowing off steam. It's their thing!
Yeah, I think in the past Danny was fine with it that they didn't really share much past a superficial level, but they've gone through so much stuff since, and it feels like they've gotten so much closer that they should be able to share deeper things at this point, and Danny was a little bothered that Steve wouldn't open up (and I'm pretty sure he even made a comment about that).
This is the first I've heard of it...and that makes me sad. I'll keep my fingers crossed that we get at least one more season for the cast and crew to wrap things up. I'd miss having them on my tv SO much. :(
Me too. :( I'm hoping that they'll at least give it another season to wrap things up.

Maybe there will be!
