That's what I heard. But how is it controversial? Was it actually Tumblr-type SJWs who were protesting the fact that she might have been raped, and this cover references that storyline? (as far as I read, even that is pretty ambiguous)

I saw some people posting about how it is triggering. All the ones I saw were on tumblr (I don't use twitter).

In the Killing Joke, Batgirl (in her civilian identity as Barbara), was shot by the joker and paralyzed, her father was later presented with images of her in various states of undress (so it's debatable if she was raped or not, however it is definitely an assault with some sexual undertones).

The outfit Joker is seen in here is the same outfit he wore in that story.

Barbara stayed paralyzed until the start of the relaunch of DC comics... The book recently switched tones from fairly dark, to very light hearted, but dealing with the assault has hung over the book to some extent this whole time.

A lot of people didn't like seeing her re-victimized, on a book that is supposed to empowering, and fun. The counterpoint is that it's an excellently drawn cover meant to celebrate the Joker outside the regular frame of the book, and that is one of the defining Joker stories.

I can see both sides.
