Hi everyone.

What's the smartest decision you've ever made?

What's the stupidest?

They're the same thing: I started posting on Fandom Secrets :D

(Anonymous) 2015-03-26 11:07 pm (UTC)(link)
NAYRT - Good answer.

(Anonymous) 2015-03-26 11:43 pm (UTC)(link)
That can't be the stupidest.

I do believe it's the smartest.

Tonight is the first time in about a year I checked fs because I found a notebook my mother bought me in which you're supposed to write lists about yourself. My first entry under "Best decision you've made" was "created an account for fs" and it made me nostalgic.Weird to come and see this.

Welcome back <3

Following my gut and going to the college I went to and picking the major I did. Practically speaking it wasn't the most ideal, but I did it, I made it work, and I think I got more out of it than I would've anywhere else.

(Anonymous) 2015-03-26 11:13 pm (UTC)(link)
I picked the right college too. That was my smartest decision.

The fact that I didn't exactly pick it on my first try... that was dumb.

(Anonymous) 2015-03-26 11:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Best: To stop believing everything and just about anything that came out of my sister's mouth. (She is a pathological liar.)

Worst: Drop out of high school. I was in a dark place at the time and I was alone. (Parents were no help but made it worse.) I wish I had not given up on myself so easily.

Majoring in economics is definitely the most important decision I've made, but I'll need time to see whether it's smart or stupid. I could make arguments either way.

(Anonymous) 2015-03-27 01:06 am (UTC)(link)
Have you seen Noah Smith's piece where he talks about the advantages of an Econ PhD?

The assumption there seems to be that you want to work in economics, a field I hate. I just took the (undergraduate) degree because my school doesn't have an accounting degree, and this way I can take some accounting classes.

Smartest: Going to college.
Stupidest: The major/degree I picked.
iceyred: By singlestar1990 (Default)

Dumbest decision: getting my undergrad degree in Communications. Learn from my fail.

Smartest: moving to SC. VA I love you, but I needed something different.
meredith44: Can't talk, I'm reading (Default)

I have so many decisions competing for stupidest. Like going to the college I did instead of Amherst, which would have been a better fit. Or not learning from getting burned out in college and doing the same damn thing in grad school. I could go on. :P

Smartest? Uh... I don't know that I have a smartest, actually. I am thinking about looking for a new job. Maybe doing that would qualify.

[personal profile] herpymcderp 2015-03-26 11:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Smartest: going back to University after my illness, deciding to ditch my old group of friends in junior high for a newer, nerdier group where I met my future SO.

Stupidest: ???? Other than small things, I can't think of any monumentally stupid decisions I've made recently. Probably deciding to work in telephone sales, but that opened a lot of doors and made me a lot of fast cash, so it wasn't really a bad decision so much as it was bad for my health.

(Anonymous) 2015-03-26 11:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Smartest: Being an English Major. Way to fit in for the first time in your life.

Dumbest: Being an English Major. No one wants to hire us.

(Anonymous) 2015-03-26 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Smartest: Getting an education and getting the hell out of the small town I was raised in. I still love the place, but it depresses me to see the people I've left behind stagnate.

Stupidest: Hiring a relative to be my realtor.

(Anonymous) 2015-03-26 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Smartest: giving up on making friends offline. I never really clicked with anyone and trying only ever caused me unhappiness.

Stupidest: getting lazy with my retainers.

(Anonymous) 2015-03-26 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Smartest: pursuing my current SO after all. I thought I didn't stand a chance but here we are, nearly 3 years later. He's the best thing that's ever happened to me.

Stupidest: literally everything else. Because of my stupid decisions, I have no career, no direction, no money, no independence, no more friends. I am a total failure as a human being.

Smartest: Had an abortion

Stupidest: Played my hand at being a junkie some years ago. Not a smart move. Still dealing with the fallout.

I have never made a smart decision.

Said No to someone being my housemate (smartest)

Mixing prescription drugs and alcohol in uni, repeatedly (stupidest)

(Anonymous) 2015-03-27 02:19 am (UTC)(link)
Hrm. This is kind of tough.

Smartest: pursuing my PhD.

Stupidest: pursuing my PhD.

Alternatively-- smartest: pursuing my PhD; stupidest: turning down the CIA.

Smartest: Getting to compromise with my parents on my grades and online games. (more marks. More games!). I was 8 at the time.

Stupidest: Tied.

1) Wailing in the car to force my parents to buy me an aquarium when I was six (the fishes died within two weeks).

2) Never finishing my English work in Standard Four, then not handing it over to the teacher for nine months (I'm not joking), then having to show my unfinished work to my dad once said teacher found out. That was waaaay stupid.
