I thought about this for a while and realized I don't really have any. I'm not afraid of specific organisms or heights or flying or anything like that. I don't have fears of things that have a remote chance of happening, although I sure wouldn't like to contract HIV or rabies or other incurable diseases much.

I mean, I sort of fear death (at some points in my life it's worse than other points) and I guess that's somewhat legitimate... but ultimately I feel like that's a pretty useless fear to have which makes it feel less legitimate to me. Also the fact that most of the time it isn't an active fear.

I fear the deaths of people in my life. I don't know many people in RL, have a hard time meeting new ones, and I can't imagine that social circle getting smaller.

I did once read a reddit thread about people who died briefly and came back - it was all startlingly similar, all blackness or whiteness and everyone felt content [afterlife loading screen? Reincarnation loading screen? I think so!]. That comforts me a bit, knowing consciousness at least cannot be killed.

Unless our consciousness just remains in our lifeless bodies like a ghost in a jar.

Well, if you find that comforting I won't ruin it for you with the scientific explanation.

I also dabbled in paganism with a reincarnation belief for a while, and I still find it somewhat nice to think about if only in a first law of thermodynamics sort of sense.

...As long as it truly isn't "Our consciousness stays in our bodies like a jar after death just waiting to return", I can't rest easy if I don't know now.
