It depends. This is probably true for many/most women (and men). Not everyone needs the same amount of preparation. And other forms of sex can be equally painful.

Basically, it is an individual thing and the OP is wrong. As long as everyone is consenting and getting what they need and want, it doesn't matter what they are/aren't trying.

Have you ever taken a huuuge dump, that hurt when it came out? that thing doesn't prepare you much, either, and chances are your Boyfriend's Dick is a little less thick. Really, the whole "She did anal and then she shat all over the house and blamed it on the dog" is just an urban legend. YOu need to be considerate with ANY sexual practice - hell, you could bite your partner's tongue and he could die!
Anal is just so loaded with prejudice that some really exaggerated misconceptions exist and are perpetuated again and again.

It's not that hard, straight guys just take all their cues from porn, and they don't know that before they shoot the porn everyone gets lubed at stretched up before they do vigorous pounding anal sex.

I recommend that for beginners in anal you start with fingers and toys only. Vibrating toys (always a flared base for anal!) can help you relax. Take your time and don't expect to get it all in on the first night.

The first time you put a dick in it, have the receiving partner be on top and control everything. Once they get used to that, they you can try other positions.
