This is what I commonly hear, yep.

Plus... this secret bothers me in that it assumes anal sex is something someone should do because of fandom and not because the idea of them having anal sex turns them on. Like because I like Call of Duty I should automatically want to go out and spend a million hours at the firing range or something.

Doesn't make sense.

I don't really think that's what it's trying to say. It seems more about finding it weird that people aren't more curious about this thing that they write and read about, which I can get. I'll admit that I'm surprised by how many people have such a strong answer to "why not?" It's not that I think they should do it, I just would have thought there would be more curiosity out there. But I may be more up for trying things that don't necessarily turn me on just out of curiosity than most people.

I'd say so. It's fairly rare for people to be open to going outside their sexual comfort zones, and people tend to have pretty visceral reactions to the idea.

But then, ymmv on that because there are plenty of people like you who have the "try anything once" attitude toward sex (I'll admit I'm kind of on that side as well). It doesn't even necessarily mean you're particularly kinky either, because there are plenty of kinky people who balk at the idea of things that I'd find fairly innocuous like, say, foot worship because they don't find it particularly hot.

It probably also helps that I prefer a more fun attitude to trying to be all intense and everything, so if we end up giggling and can't take it seriously, that's cool too.

That said, I think it's really stupid to tell someone to have sex before they write porn, because porn is so idealized anyway.

I didn't seem to read it that way. more like: look, you seem to really like this thing in fiction, and it's not unrealistic to get it, so why not try it?

If you seemed to be really into shooting games, it wouldn't be far out to actually go to a shooting range at least once in your life;
