I just finished writing a story and now I'm not sure what to do with myself while I wait for the betas.

I waffle between three dozen story ideas I'd like to start writing or finish writing. I could also edit some older stuff and put that online. I could also work on the extras for one story that's gotten a little out of hand (photos and character bios, maps and charts - stuff that adds to the story).

It's just weird not to have a structure any more since I had a schedule to finish the last story and now I need to make another one but I can't settle on anything. I feel very unproductive as I'm not getting anywhere on anything right now but work is slow and I really want to capitalize on that while I can.

I hate that unproductive feeling, but I suspect I feel it more often than you because I never have much structure. I admire people who work consistently.

I do too. I've been struggling for years to find that magic mixture to get a finished product. I'm figured out some stuff (outlines, schedules) but I still struggle to keep up with the schedules I make.

People who can consistently write an hour a day or something like that are amazing and mysterious to me.

A few years ago I decided I was going to write 3,000 words a day, no excuses, just to see how long I could keep it up. I'm amazed at how long I did manage it. I should probably use that as motivation to be more consistent again.
