Re: Movie/Show/Book/Game that you got all wrong

Four kids play a Sims type videogame that can actually change their bedrooms and this apparently triggers the Apocalypse.

But then they realize that they are trapped in a series of ridiculous space and time paradoxes, where everything they do was always going to happen, no matter what they thought about it.

They decide this is bullshit and try to break out of the paradoxes and save their universe and the universe of other alien kids who also played that game.

Huh. That is not at all what I would think it would be about.

What did you think it was about?

Honestly...I don't know. I had no idea what is about but I didn't expect that. Mostly because that summary makes sense.

Ha! I'll take that as a compliment on my summarizing skills.

If you ever want a shorter (and completely finished!) taste of what kind of story Homestuck is, this, er, fanwork really captures the voice of the comic's author (Andrew Hussie), with the sort of meta-humor, recursiveness, literary allusions and general shenanigans you would encounter in the actual Homestuck comic and the other MS Paint Adventures:

You don't need to read Homestuck to understand it, as far as I remember. All the context you need is that a character from Homestuck named "Dirk" scribbled all over a children's book to make a different story out of it, and sent it to his friend "Jane" as a birthday gift.

(Homestuck is a generally lighter on the "dark to light" humor scale than this fanwork is, though.)
