Re: Obscure/forgotten stuff you liked as a kid

Have you read the graphic novels? They fixed the third season and explored the "bad" guys redeeming themselves (a la Suicide Squad). I know the creator still has lots to say about Gargoyles and still loves the idea. If he's involved, I think it would be very likely that they could maintain the quality of the 90s. I'm not sure how much it would need updating. They already had a lot of science stuff on the show.

Sometimes I feel super lucky to have been the right age for some of the things I read and watched. Gargoyles was so awesome. POC, well-written heroine as the MC. Complicated story-threads that paid off long-time viewing. Multi-cultural exploration. Good story-telling. I didn't even realize how awesome it was really.

No! I should though. I've just started the second season and I'm not really super involved just yet. I'm trying not to get spoiled so I'm pretty much avoiding anything Gargoyles related on the internet. I scrolled the available fic on AO3 only (and found out there was really nothing I wanted to read, so I was sad about that. Oh, the Mary-Sue self-inserts. I bet we lost so many hilarious self-inserts when Geocities went kaput.)

I don't really think I was the right age for the show at the time because I really don't remember it. It was probably too dark for me. Literally the only things I remembered when I started my rewatch were "Street Pizza," Demona's name, and the fact that Demona was a traitor. I feel like Demona must've been one of my first experiences with a very complicated villain and she must've set the stage for my preferences in villain characters.

Anyway, anon, you sound knowledgable in the way of Gargoyles and you should def pm me so we can squee or whatever about it, because the only one I've roped into this show with me is my fiancé and he gets tired of me talking about it sometimes. (though, tbf, I talk about Brooklyn a lot because he's my fave and my fiancé has no taste and doesn't like him.)
