I recently met Timothy Zahn at a convention! He signed the embarrassingly large pile of books I had, and chatted volubly about his writing, and was in every way an incredibly decent and interesting human. And every time he passed by us in the halls for the rest of the con he nodded in recognition and smiled at us. SO glad my favourite author didn't turn out to be a dick!! I would have been crushed.
