Strict religious upbringing that encouraged what was basically witch-hunting for your neighbor's sins turned me into someone who uses compulsive lying as a defense mechanism. I lie about randomly mundane shit just to emotionally distance and camouflage myself from the girl bagging my grocieries or the bank teller etc.

I also have abandonment/attatchment issues that I doubt help.
