Why do you think that trans headcanons are fetishizing transness? I don't think you actually know what fetishization is.

In this context it operates exactly in the same way as the "slash fetishizes homosexuality" does. The majority who do so are from outside that specific demographic are using it solely because they think it's hot, or that it's forbiddenness is edgy and taboo, or will get the attention and SJ kudos points.

If you don't think people dream up trans headcanons to look special on Tumblr then I'm not sure you actually know what "naive" is.
