Mr Banks does get his job at the bank back at the end so it's not as if it's saying that the entire system is awful, just that you should have balance. The part where he walks past the house of God to the house of money is important. He stands up against his boss, which isn't entirely the same thing as saying the kids were right in how *they* acted - Bert points it out to them that it's hard to be their father.

It's a pretty complex movie really, I like it a lot.
