Hmmm, I will guess Derek or Stiles from "Teen Wolf." I not sure they fit the description exactly, but that was my first thought. You can definitely write TW fics without much of either of them but the fanbase would have your hide.

It wouldn't be Teen Wolf even if it was a large fandom, because Stiles is the fan favorite and no one really pairs him with Scott anyway.
