That article boils down to an admission they did it, but saying that now they've been caught out they are going to stop. Not exactly a ringing endorsement of your position since it is an admission that Israel tried to sterilize black jewish women.

Israel's crimes against its Ethiopian citizens are disgusting, but making up lies about the extent of it does nothing to 1) address the crimes or 2) further the termination of Israel as a state, which is what the people spreading disinformation really want out of it.

Reasserting the Israeli-ness of people clearly discriminated against because of their skin color (which is fucking lolarious because I remember the huge hue and cry over ~bring the Ethiopian Jews back to the homeland~ back in the day) doesn't change the fact that prejudice on the basis of skin color is A Thing.

No, not really. Jewish would be, ethnically and regionally, middle eastern, which is decidedly not "white" to a huge number of people. Namely Republicans...

A few Palestinian Jews would count as Semitic-Arabs, but most of them are white with very little to link them to the Palestine region.

Hi, Ashkenazi Jew here. Dark hair, dark eyes, light brown skin, very Middle Eastern facial features. I don't pass for white - ever. People have come up to me in public before and started speaking to me in Arabic. Various members of my family pass to varying degrees, but white-passing =/= white. We weren't in Europe all that long, evolutionarily speaking.

Hi, full-blooded Slav here. Dark hair, dark eyes, light brown skin, very Middle Eastern facial features, frequently mistaken for Arab, even in the Middle East. "Evolutionary speaking", we were in Europe for an even shorter than Ashkenazi Jews and that's not even mentioning our frequent mixing with tatar and Turkic people. Doesn't mean I'm not really white, though. Race and looks are two different things. I don't care how you choose to identify, but don't generalize.

Point taken. I only meant that it's a matter of DNA, not where you stopped over. Anywhere outside the US, Jewish people are unequivocally NOT considered white, and the "WHITE/POC" divide is a bit ridiculous, considering the history of ethnoreligions (Zoroastrianism, anyone?).

No, I'm pretty sure that Ashkenazi Jewish people are considered white in most of the world. That's the case in my country, and I've seen people from other countries say the same.

I agree that the white/POC divide is ridiculous, particualrly when people insist that every oppressed white minority is not really white.

Well, there are also a lot of people of full-blooded Middle Eastern origin who "look white" (I know a few myself); there are a lot of alleles that are shared amongst the regions. It can lead to confusion.

I know opinions differ on this, and I don't want to fight. Let's agree to disagree. :)

No, we will not agree to disagree about a statement that's objectively wrong. I don't care about allels (my own nations shares DNA with Indians). It's like I went around claiming that the French are seen as POCs in the US, whatever my reasoning would be, that would not be true.

Jews are seen as white by msot countries and that's a fact.

Huh. I've actually heard differently. I've been told that it's only in the US that Jewish people are considered white. Maybe we've been talking to different people.
