OP - There might be something else since I last heard, but last night Naughty Boy (the producter he had been working with) posted Zayn's first solo track online (after winding up Louis on Twitter).

I'm not a huge 1D fan, but I just think it's incredibly shady that Zayn's like, "I'm leaving the band to be a normal guy out of the spotlight!" and mere days later he starts releasing solo stuff. Like ??? Were you that desperate to get out of your contract?

Update: The song was not a real Zayn solo track, it was a reject from a 1D album that Naughty Boy released "as a joke." This shit gets messier by the minute.

It wasn't solo stuff, it was a collaboration with a rapper that "features" Zayn and it may have been something that was planned prior to his departure from 1D:
