Some people can. I personally am not a fan of his, I'm more a fan of the other two. (Not that they're perfect either, but they're just not focused on in the media as much.) It's still awful to see someone who had done a lot of work with one group of people for years and years self-destruct. The consensus amongst fans I know is this: we sort of figured the show might end in the next year. But it's a shame it had to go out this way. The lack of closure is painful.

Maybe it's not a self destraction per se but a one time thing? JC has friends and family, he'd be alright.

You make it sound as if he had some kind of breakdown. He didn't,he committed a crime of his own free will because he had a tantrum. Not really helping the image of Top Gear fans.
