(Anonymous) 2015-04-01 02:41 am (UTC)(link)Yeah, this isn't working. Both of those stories, I apparently need to do way more outlining on. I did reread all the scenes I have, and still really love them, though. And I did a little editing on one that actually shortened my wordcount but made for a better scene. From the Once Upon a Time story:
“Is this the part where you give me the ‘could have been a prince, but you became a pirate’ speech of disappoint? Because really, Gramps, not in the mood.”
“Henry, I’m not disappointed in you-”
“Even though you did just shoot a man in cold blood,” Snow interjected.
“- We just want to know where our son is,” David continued.
“Right,” Henry said. “I don’t know.”
“What do you mean you don’t know, Henry, you were supposed to take care of him!” Snow yelled, her emotions finally bubbling over.
“He left me!” Henry roared back.
David stepped forward, grabbed Snow’s arm and held her close, protectively and calmingly. Henry seethed, almost shaking with anger. Killian stepped cautiously toward him.
“It’s all right, mate,” he said. “They’re just worried. If we’d found Neal first, I’d probably be the same way they are now trying to find you.” Henry stared at Killian. For the briefest of moments he wanted to run into the pirate’s arms and be a boy, comforted by his father. But he wasn’t a boy.
“I don’t know where ‘Neal’ is,” Henry said. “And if you want to find him, you better find another ship, because if I see him again, there will be bloodshed.”
“Henry!” Snow said, aghast. It wasn’t a yell. More an expression of disbelief, like when he had shot that pirate. “What’s happened to you? He’s your family.” Henry stared at her. What had happened to him? So many things since arriving in Neverland. More than could ever be explained in whole form. But the essence boiled down to one thing.
“I grew up,” he answered as he pushed past them and back toward the deck. “When we get back to land I’ll point you to some of the more reputable guides who can lead you to some of…Neal’s…hangouts. He probably won’t answer you if you call him that though.”
“What should we call him?” David asked. Henry looked back at them, silhouetted in the setting sun save for the flash of light that glinted off his hook.
“Peter Pan.”
