The fic itself is one where Carver sells his sister Marian out to the templars and she gets dragged off to the Gallows. When the Qunari uprising happens she's amongst the mages alled out to help and ends up being the one to defeat the Arishok, something she has help doing because she's menstruating at the time. (At the end she decides to escape and hop off to Tevinter, as it's the only place she might be able to live free.)
