Because it really started to blow.

It wouldn't have bothered me if she didn't like slash....if she hadn't set up slash in it (Like, Haru for example never bothered me. Ayame being straight...fuck that. Gimme a break.) But even that and the art wouldn't have bothered me....if it had been WELL written.

But it bothered me more that she had a pretty epic story, with some awesome characters, and in the end she sacrificed a lot of it for the typical romance It wasn't the couple, or anything (Of the two I think I preferred Kyo, tho I think it woulda been more interesting for them to have given her up to someone new, but anyway...)

Akito's a pretty good example. I mean wtf. She had amazing plot ~~And I love Akito's secret so this isn't an anti-that thing.~~ and then she took all the bite out of the character and paired em up with a happy ending. Everyone's character was sacrificed for happy romantic pairing off endings.

Ugh.

Thaaank you. I liked the premise and the characters were original (and I loved Ayame so much!), but then... it just tumbled down into shoujo dribble, where everyone stopped having issues and problems and became this happy, faceless couple in the crowd at the hands of their twu wuv. I mean, some characters could've done that, certainly. But not... Hatori, and certainly not Akito (especially not with Shigure! I've never seen a more complicated romance, and then it was handled so... fluffily and flowery and wtf not).

I still like the characters, but I now prefer to take the anime as canon, because it doesn't remind me immediately of how the characters all became blobs.

I knew it was gonna have romance, I knew Tohru was going to get with one of them (Althought every time I see one of those secrets about how yaoi doesn't bring down male friendship and more then het doesn't bring down female/male, I think of Fruba, cause I loved them as friends) but everyone didn't have to dissolve into some sappy cliche. Not EVERYONE has to be paired off in some perfect little couple (And sweet jesus, did Hataori's gf have ENOUGH "OMG what a coincidence!" going on?)

But I do the excate same thing, I'm like "Fruba has a manga, what?" (Cept I cheat and pretend you can see boobies in a certain kimono split, cause I LOVED that)

Yes, Tohru was destined to, but the whole Yuki feeling Tohru was like his mom all of the sudden... it was such a cop-out to me. I mean, he would've realised it sooner I think, and not suddenly realise 'oh hay the girl I really enjoy spending time with... no, sorry, not hormones, but mom!' Ergh. It could've been handled better. I loved everyone better as friends, I think... with the way the romance was handled. I mean, Shigure/Akito was the most epic pairing ever (or at least in that series XD) but so fluffy w-what. And everyone had such issues and ended up so... straight. Ayame straight made me laaaugh. I liked Ayame and Mine as friends who confided in each other, not as lovers. It just came so out of the blue for me. I've just accepted Ayame as bisexual then, so at least my bzuh was somewhat lessened.

Hah, I really don't care if Akito is male or female, it doesn't change the character for me... although the whole 'really sick' and 'sick because of psychological reasoning' does become an issue if you mix manga with anime canon. xD;

Truthfully, I never met someone who didn't feel similarly. XD;

The art really through me off. I woulda put up with it, if the story hadn't bit it, but yeah....oy. Everyone started looking the same. Boys girls...old young....and they didn't even look PRETTY the same.

But yes, I agree all across the board (Except I ttly shipped akito/kureno), except I know plenty of people who still worship it...

My best friend likes only a small number of shoujo series. This was the first one she ever liked. I am a bit more of a shoujo fan, so this was a nice common ground. Now we're both just sort of hanging on out of loyalty and curiosity. Everything that made Furuba special and interesting...gone.

It makes me very sad.

Yeah, it was....one of my most highly recommnded serise, and then became...fluff. Typical, shoujo, fluff.

Which wouldn't be so bad if that's what it had ALWAYS been, there's a place for cupcakes and uber romance, but....Fruba walked the line SO well. Your braver then me, I got a summary from a friend, and then started pretending it didn't existed.
