I've never read Gravitation, but all I've heard of it is that it's a beautiful different series. All these complaints about it's creepiness makes me want to read it just to see what the heck is up with the differing opinions.

The anime series is streaming on Veoh (http://www.veoh.com). Or, it was when I last checked (might have been pulled since then).

As to creepiness... well, TVTropes.org uses a quote from Gravitation on the page for the trope "Rape Is Love". That only applies to the manga, though. In the anime, Putting Up With Being Gang-Raped By Strangers To Save Your Boyfriend's Reputation Is Love.

So, yeah. Kinda creepy. Kinda sweet, too, so I can see where the Gravi-lovers are coming from... actually, the sweetness and the creepiness along with Shuichi being INCREDIBLY ANNOYING give me mood whiplash. It's a very odd series.

Hmm. See, I'm inclined to agree with the OP after reading this comment. It really does sound like a bad yaoi doujin. Or a soap episode.

Buuuut, then again, I do like Loveless... which is a little twisted in its own right, so I guess it's one of those things where it's not for everyone, depending on your perspective of it. :|

Gravitation's curse is the fact that people see the word "yaoi" and come in expecting beautiful romance. The fact is that it is twelve books of crack that happens to be focused on a hilariously dysfunctional relationship, in a low-budget anime and a clearly half-assed manga.
Yeah, I'm not getting how people can take that series seriously and not hate it, but that might explain why the fandom mainly consists of fourteen-year (mental or actual), and why any serious BL fan takes her credit in hating its guts.

Well, the differing opinions bit could have something to do with the fact that the manga was... good, if you approach it with a sense of humor, and the anime completely blew. The manga is one of my favorite series, and I absolutely abhor the anime, so... I guess it all depends on what the person in question is talking about.
