Ha ha, well. I think it's FAAAAR prettier than FFXII. It's simple and stylized, but always interesting to look at. FFXII is uh, totally bland. But then again, I still think the original Metal Gear Solid is a beautiful game, and thought the in-game graphics of FFX put the game's CGI cutscenes to shame. A lot of the blocky-ness is intentional, and makes the entire game look like you're running around in an anime without delving into cell shading (which is very pretty too).

THE WORLD MAP IS PRETTY HORRIBLE THOUGH, I MUST AGREE. I got lost SOOOO often wtf, and it was so laggy and the random battle load time KILL SMASH -__-;;.

But at least the towns looked pretty on the world map. :P

When you put it like that, I can definitely see where you're coming from. It's not like, ULTRA-REALISTIC OH LOOK AT THE WONDERS WE CAN DO WITH OUR AMAZING TECHNOLOGY SEE? SEE? that I've come to expect, but it does fit the game. (Tales was always very anime-esque so I have no idea why I was expecting so much to begin with. I think the blocky-ness was my biggest gripe but if it's intentional I can probably get over it already. xD)

Oh god yes. Running through places is fun, fighting things is fun...BUT NOT ON THAT MAP ARRRRGH. I don't know if it was just my copy, but fighting certain monsters on the world map actually made the battle slooooooow down and that made me want to KILL THINGS.

This whole thread is making me want to pull my game out and play some more. xD

Ha ha, I tend to prefer games that do the best with what they have. XD The Tales series is usually very good at that- they're all uniformly pretty (*drool* the 2D details in Destiny) if not exceptional. Uh, except for Legendia. Which kind of looks like ass. :PPPP I dunno, I just think a lot of PS2 JRPGs were trying to hard to look like American PC RPGs, either that or were... y'know what? I don't even know what they were trying to do, but a lot of them were just ugly or boring to look at.

It wasn't just your copy. XD Although I thought it might just be my PS2 because the thing is old and clonky and angry and beat up, but aside from experiencing slow down with some world map, it sometimes took over a minute to load the map when the battle was finished (ALL THE WHILE MY PS2 BEING LIKE: "RRRRR, CLICK, GRIND GRIND, THIS IS SOME ARDUOUS LOADING I'M DOIN' HERE, LOUD"). I got to the point where I was putting Anise in the front of my party everytime I had to enter the world map because, and this may just be a Placebo, I SWEAR she runs faster than everyone else. o__O

Ha ha, mission accomplished? :P

...Whereas I thought Legendia's graphics were rather cute. XD I'm beginning to think that graphics are more a matter of taste than anything else.

Apparently everyone's had some epic slow down problems with the maps so I'm guessing that it's everyone's copy. xD I don't think I've ever had Anise at the front of my party for a significant amount of time (I'm only any good with Luke so I always play with him at the front) so I never noticed if she did or not. Though there are a few cutscenes where she's a freakin' lightning bolt so I don't doubt it.

I ended up playing for several hours again so, I guess so. xD
