n!s: Hmmm... I'm a bitter, bitter person is all, I think. 8D Somehow, I think that how Yuki ended up with Machi (although insanely adorable) was a bit... formulaic. >> I would've liked a bit more variety in their relationship. Not to say that the whole mutual understanding and growth wasn't good, but perhaps maybe a fight would've helped the process for me...? >> Again, it's just me being bitter. XD

The break between Akito and the family was a bit too clean for me. Considering the leader of the family was suddenly disassociating herself from her former image and encouraging the rest of her family to go along, and also that the Sohmas were very traditional and Japanese... well, I expected more of a visual conflict (cold and/or angry phone calls, reprimands, pleading, logical/illogical arguments, etc). But, again, that might be a cultural thing and all of the fighting might've taken place behind the scenes. >> I just wanted to seeeeee it. >>

Ayame and Mine, however cute they were, were also a bit too thrown together for me. >> I would've loved to see a bit more background for the two. All we saw of Ayame and Mine together in more of a relationship than what everyone else usually sees was stuffed in one chapter. >> Screw that, I wanna see how they met/interact.

I would've loved to see Kureno and Uo together again, but that's my inner romantic talking. XDDD I also wanted to see the results between Hana and Shishou.

moar kakeru and komaki preez. >> they were cute beyond belief and needed moar backstory. XDD I suppose that's what fandom is for, though.

Not to say it was all bad, though. I love how the relationship between Haru and Rin turned out, and although Hiro and Kisa's was also a bit formulaic, you really could sense the development and struggle they went through to get to that point. Since I love the tragic lover archetype, I liked how the stories of Kagura and Momiji culminated -- though, again, since I'm a hopeless romantic, I'm sorta kinda writing a fic where Momiji gets more story, because, let's face it, he got one of the worst packages of the deal because, as I remember it, he didn't want to return to his family because of the confusion that would cause; and he didn't even have a chance with Tohru. =( No curse, but not much else, either.

I'm just glad you were ok with the whole Kyo and Tohru thing...fans who freak about Tohru and Yuki being together (AKA those who have only seen the Anime) Make me a little sad.
I don't think Yuki and Machi were formulaic at all. They were both pleasantly awkward at the beginning and Machi gav him so much problems that by the time they were close enough to be friends, it was obvious (to me anyway) that they were good for each other as a couple as well.
Hiro an Kisa were a little "cliche" (which i'm wondering if thats what you mean by formulaic?) and personally, i really don't think they were ok for each other.
Rin is my absolute favorite! and Haur and she were just right! yay agreement.
I am currently rereading this front to back again,but as i recall, Kagura never really got good closure either. i may be rworng on that though.
really, the only thing that kind pissed me off was the whole twist where Kyo was all angsty and guilty about how Tohru's mom died. I actually thought that was pretty lame.
oh, and I definitely agree with you about the whole Akito bit--there should have been more "drama" about that. Though, i tend to think you're right; maybe there ws, we just didn't see it. I'm not sure what culture stuff we missed, since I'm not Japanese, I'm american. (cripes, i just wrote "since I'm not american I'm japanese. yeah, it's bed time.)
