Every time I've ever heard him speak he's espousing the most feminist rhetoric I can think of that doesn't cross into the territory of radical feminism.

Did I miss something here? Everything I've ever seen/read makes him seem like a great guy.

His actual treatment of women is appalling.

He tends to have flings and then talk about what he got up to with his ladies in the bedroom in public. Sometimes he uses his past paramours for stand up fodder (using their real names as he outs their dirty laundry to crowds of thousands) and that's bad enough. But just try googling "Russell Brand" and "Andrew Sachs" and "granddaughter". Ugh.

Oh come on. The Sachs affair was a mountain made out of a molehill by no less than the Daily Mail. I'm not saying it was sterling behavior on either Brand or Wossy's part, but it certainly wasn't worth the fuss the Mail made about it, purely for the headlines. Keep in mind that the BBC suspended them for making a tasteless prank call (after they'd initially okayed that recording to air, BTW) while covering up for pedophiles like Jimmy Saville for decades.

I haven't seen much of his work but I thought he was hella annoying on The Big Fat Quiz of the Year, especially the last time he participated.

I liked Brand's program on addiction, and I liked what he said about Nigel Farage on Newsnight or QT or whatever show that was. But his long history of being a sexist twonk isn't erased by his sudden claim to support feminism (and lots of feminists don't support the No More Page 3 campaign anyway).

He'd be a fucking hilarious Hamlet, though.

I adore him in combination with Noel Fielding, but on his own, he's generally just not quite my cup of tea. Although I did enjoy that interview on- what was it, Fox?- where it was clear nobody in the room knew who he was and he kind of took them all to task for it.

Try not to approach people with such a black and white outlook. I think that's a mistake that happens a lot in fandom.

He's an extremely intelligent man who struggled with bullying all of his life, has problematic views about women that he acknowledges and tries to change but does not always successfully. Sometimes when he fails it's spectacular failure where he's just downright fucking awful.

He's just a normal person with ideals he doesn't always live up to.

Lol, I think he would be a very poor Hamlet but as for the other stuff, he's just a guy making videos, you know? He uses his celebrity to get his point across and I'm all for that, but people need to stop getting so upset about him. What he's saying is really not that revolutionary (as he would probably admit).
