That happened to me in FTL.

That final boss in FTL is fucking RIDICUBALLS.

On the plus side, the times I've beaten it have actually made me pump my fist and scream YES!!!!! at the computer screen.

The boss in FTL is totally manageable (at least on Easy and Normal difficulty). It's really fucking frustrating the first few times you make it there, because it works totally differently than any other enemy in the game, but once you get what you need to do, it's challenging but definitely doable.

The trick is that you kind of need to be planning your boss strategy for, like, the last 2 or 3 sectors. Because it's really easy to get into a place where you can destroy all non-boss enemies and yet have no chance at all against the boss.
