They're invading my hometown. Our Taco Bell was replaced by a "Mexican fusion" restaurant where everything costs at least $10 and one of the menu items is pancakes with maple syrup.

Honestly, about the same as any subculture I've encountered. Some great, some obnoxious, some I want nowhere near me. Same as just about any other group, really.

My town has gone hipster. Most of my male friends have at least tried to grow beards.
The food is the most annoying thing. Even places I like now have menus with kale and organic whatever, and it's all expensive. Rustic/industrial furniture is also really uncomfortable and impractical. I got splinters from a bar using barrels as tables.

Ah, the joys of gentrification.

Like, seriously, I wouldn't mind most of this hipster stuff if most of it wasn't so bloody expensive.

Also the food diet thing tends to go along with a certain judgemental attitude towards eating which I despise. Figuring out what I CAN eat on a stupid doctor-approved diet is already annoying enough without some douchebag side-eyeing me because I'm not "organic" or w/e.

Why would you pay $15 for a miniature burger when you can get a real one across the street for $10? WHY!?

I feel a little guilty for loving the gluten-free fad, because I need to eat gluten-free.
I don't care how ridiculous people think I am. I will enjoy it while it lasts.
