Oh. That is not what I was expecting. They have come a long way from robot Hitler.

The series really has, hasn't it? It still has that slightly silly derring-do-behind-enemy-lines thing going, with lots and lots of cute references to Wolfenstein 3D (including the opportunity to replay the first level) and the gun models were actually increased in size to be less realistic and more in line with what old FPS games had. But it mixes that with a really strong dramatic thread that's shot throughout the game and gets pretty grim at times. Machinehead has definitely embraced both the series' roots as well as the more modern tale they wanted to tell.
