I fucked up my on the security on my wireless router

and it's apparently been fucked up for a couple of months and now my anti-virus is detecting a bunch of unknown devices on my network. I'm not in a very populated area so these are probably not local.

Would resetting the router and changing the password fix this problem? What's the best course of action I can take so this doesn't happen again?

I had a router issue last week, and it was eerily close to that scene from Zoolander where they're trying to find files and then the Planet of the Apes theme comes on and they start hitting things and making incoherent rage noises at the technology.

I don't think resetting and changing the password would hurt?

Reset the router, and change the password, and make it relatively complex (not "password"). Use upper case, lower case, some numbers or punctuation. I tend to use phrases, because they're easier to remember and can include all of the above complexities.

Then check the computers on your network, because if you've got an infection, it's likely on one of your computers, not the router.
