I obviously found them easier!
I was able to learn by putting my arm over a friend's shoulder for a little support, but once you get up and get the hang of it, it's pretty easy.

Snakes are awesome!

That is radical.

Tessa Stone returns

With a new webcomic, "Too Drunk For This" coming out sometime next week. Bets on how long it takes her to flake on this one.

I wish I could enjoy light amusing fantasies like this. Most of my fantasies are dark h/c of my brOTP(s) and sometimes I think that I don't really know what I'm going to imagine instead of this if I ever want to take a break from my canon/relax without thinking about someone suffering. My head is a weird place.

Re: Pairings You're Embarrassed to Ship

[personal profile] philstar22 2015-04-04 08:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Not quite as embarrassed as I should be to ship Morgoth/Sauron and Celebrimbor/Sauron. I am kind of embarrassed over the fact that Sauron is pretty much my fandom bicycle, though. At least when he was still attractive, firmly headcanon that he seduced everyone he could literally.

Also, the other day someone suggested Morgoth/Hurin as a joke. Now I can't get it out of my head.

Help. I like creepy things.

I feel secondhand embarrassment for shipping Harry/Hermione every time the fandom does something crazy. And I remember the crazy shipper I used to be and feel even more embarrassed.

Not sure if this is embarrassing or not, but I came out of Guardians of the Galazy shipping Peter/Drax rather than Peter/Gamora. And also Gamora/Nebula, which is embarrassing since I don't usually do incest.

I feel the same way about Sirius. From the little we saw of him while he was in Hogwarts, he struck me more as someone who likes to stay aloof and just bask in the admiration of the people around him rather than chasing after people.

There was one fic I read where Steve was suffering from survivor's guilt, depression, and stress from Bucky ignoring him (as Steve saw it). What does Natasha do when he lashes out verbally with a vaguely smartass comment? Slap him and tell him he needs to find help from a therapist. :(

I own both a morningstar and a battleaxe, both of which I am very pleased with, and several prop swords, and a crossbow.
I too want a battle-ready sword! Those are so awesome. At the same time it feels like a bit of a pointless investment, since it's not like I can use it... on the other hand, jewelry is technically pointless too >_>

My peeve is when the weapons are too frilly and fancy, though. I like my weapons, even the props, to look more useful and less ~~**fantasy sword**~~. My sister owns a cavalry sword, which I am a bit jealous of.

This has... what to do with Jesus/Judas fic recs?

As someone who doesn't like the Daryl/Beth pairing but who liked Beth well enough while she was around, I admit to being put off by the posts about her "totally still being alive!"

There's no real harm in people thinking that (though like kaijin, I don't get WHY they think it), I just don't want to keep reading about it. If I could easily block it on mobile I would, but since I can't I mostly just scroll on by or avoid TWD tags altogether.

I honestly don't think Beth was a terrible character (and the actress seems incredibly sweet) and I don't blame her fans for being upset about her death (believe me, there are character deaths I'll always be sad about), but I'm over it. (There are only a handful of characters in this show who I would be truly devastated to lose, and when those die I'll either deal or stop watching. My interest in TWD comes and goes anyway.)

I can see why you'd hesitate the call the Bible fiction even if you didn't believe it was true, but if that's the case shouldn't we give the same respect to works like the Iliad and the Epic of Gilgamesh and all those other ancient sagas about gods and heroes doing godly and heroic stuff? I think if the Bible is to be considered non-fiction then those stories should as well, because their authors didn't see them as fiction either!

(No, I'm not trolling. I really do think this.)

Makorra. Not so much 'embarrassed' but I don't tell people because I don't feel like being dogpilled by a bunch of people frothing "homophobe!" from every orifice.

Many of us here had rural childhoods, and they weren't so idyllic as it seems, what with all the cornfields.

Re: Actually..

(Anonymous) 2015-04-04 08:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Parents have a lot of influence over how children perceive themselves and the world. They can build their children's self esteem , they can choose what media their children are exposed to for the first several years of their lives and in what form. It's really up to them, not Hollywood or any other faction of the entertainment industry as a whole.

There's really no such thing as weasels.

Weasels are like a category between otters and ferrets, but biologically, they don't exist. It's like a label that's stuck on any old tin of beans no one knows what spices are in.

Used to have a friend who actually did swordfighting with them, but he moved away and we sort of lost touch. I'd love to learn someday.
