The local public school wouldn't take me for kindergarten for another year (my birthday is in late October), and I was already reading. Mom figured she could teach me for that year, and we just never stopped.

Not really. We considered it for high school, but decided to go with online classes instead.

There's homeschooler social groups. That's how I meet people. That and the Internet, of course.

Why are you homeschooled? How do you like it? Do you feel you're getting an adequate education? Do you feel like you're getting adequately socialized? I know when I was a teenager I knew a bunch of homeschooled kids where the parents had essentially banded together to form a kind of clique for socialization, for doing extracurricular activities, etc - is there anything like that? How's your relationship with your parents (assuming they're the ones educating you)?

Answered why above. I do like it - I get to sleep in until 8AM most days! I think I'm getting an adequate education: I have a state-issued high school diploma equivalent at 16, and I'm looking at community college classes for next year. I think I'm being adequately socialized, yes. We have something like that, although I'm kind of a fringe member of the clique and the rest of my family isn't in it at all. I have an okay relationship with my parents. My relationship with Mom got a lot better once she stopped being my primary educator, and I've always had a pretty good relationship with Dad.

What obstacles have your parents faced as a result of going this route (if you even know!)? Where did they get the materials/what was your curriculum based on? Were you able to self-guide at all?

Various people who didn't understand or thought they were doing horrible things to their innocent children. The materials are mostly gotten from Amazon and the other curriculum sellers. I can self-guide to some extent - what classes I want to take at community college, etc.
