But there definitely WAS a lot of backlash to it.

I'm kind of in the middle here.

Because while it is her body, I was a bit disturbed to find out she had to go on a liquid diet to fit into the extremely tight corset.

But, then, you have to look at people like Chris Evans and Chris Hemsworth and the incredibly strict and strenuous diets and exercise regimens they undergo as well. I don't imagine that what she put her body through is more difficult than what they're doing.

That's the issue with wanting actors to portray fairy tale princesses and comic book characters...

I do agree that some of the things actors have to do in order to look right for a part are creepy, especially when it's meant to make them look like an ideal and they've only achieved the look through really unhealthy behavior.

Yeah, I don't mean to turn this into a "what about the mens!" thing but I do think it's pretty pervasive in Hollywood. I wouldn't be surprised if Evans and Hemsworth used steroids to get as ripped as they did (in fact, I'd bet on it) and those things have serious effects on health, even long term.

Being underweight -- as was required by Cinderella -- is terribly unhealthy as well.

I'm a bit torn about her revealing that she was on a liquid diet because while it definitely could trigger some girls, I think it's important that she reveal that you really can't achieve her shape while eating normally. The same way the Chris' bodies require an amount of working out/dieting that's basically unsustainable.

It isn't always terribly unhealthy, though. She may be unable to achieve that shape while eating normally, but it's quite possible and natural for some of us.

(Anonymous) 2015-04-04 08:48 pm (UTC)(link)
That was kind of my point though…you can't look like her naturally since she herself did not achieve that look naturally.

Sure, for others it might be possible to be very thin naturally, but they wouldn't look like the actress.

Go the fuck to hell you piece of inhuman filth

(Anonymous) 2015-04-04 09:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Dude, eat a Snickers.

(Anonymous) 2015-04-04 09:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Wait…do they not do this?

Do Chris and Chris not have incredibly strict diets and strenuous exercise regimens for their roles?

I thought that was merely a matter of…you know…fact.

(Anonymous) 2015-04-04 09:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Not super strenuous no.

And not anywhere on the level of what any woman has to do.

Your implication that is is is what makes you deserving of and oesophagus full of shit.

(Anonymous) 2015-04-04 09:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Calm down anon

(Anonymous) 2015-04-04 10:17 pm (UTC)(link)
I was under the impression that diet/exercise alone wasn't enough so they'd even turned to steroids.

I mean, women have to diet/work out like crazy too but steroids are seriously bad for your health and can have long-term effects (see Lance Armstrong for one).

(Anonymous) 2015-04-04 11:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Pretty sure that's just baseless gossip, anon.

(Anonymous) 2015-04-04 10:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Mmm, delicious bait.

(Anonymous) 2015-04-05 05:58 am (UTC)(link)
Awwww, look who hasn't the faintest idea what she's talking about.

(Anonymous) 2015-04-05 12:06 am (UTC)(link)
"Go the fuck to hell you piece of inhuman filth"

There is absolutely no justification for writing such a vile comment.

(Anonymous) 2015-04-05 01:10 am (UTC)(link)
Well, someone implied that men can be hurt by beauty standards too, and that they might even take comparably drastic measures to reach these standards of beauty. And everyone knows only women suffer. Or at least women suffer so so so so so much more that the suffering of men is actually offensive to even acknowledge. We can't even talk about it. That's the justification. You understand.
